A while back I sold an Epiphone Les Paul Custom Silverburst to an 11-year-old boy who was practically shaking with excitement about the prospect of buying it when he came over with his dad and older brother to try it out. About a week later, I e-mailed his dad to see how he was getting along with his new guitar. The father reported that the kid loved it, had named it Eleanor, and had refused to let his older sister use it to play Sk8er Boi by Avril Lavigne.
The reason? "Eleanor doesn't play that kind of music," the kid said.
I laughed out loud when I read that. (No offense to any Avril Lavigne fans out there).
