If the label says Westerly RI, does that mean the guitar was built there?

Yes. :D
Westerly is kind of mythical around here, that's a very good place to have on your label. Given how confusing and downright misleading some things are these days, we can understand why the question was asked. Kind of nice to know it's just a good old fashioned statement of fact, huh?. Same applies to other place names appearing on the labels.
Hey by the way, Welcome aboard!

Thanks. Westerly has been important to me for a lot of years. A friend was asking me about the manufacture of a 2001 Guild with Westerly on the label. He thought Guild HQ was in Westerly, but the guitar was actually manufactured in CA. I said, I thought the location of the label indicated place of manufacture, but I wasn't sure. \

By the way, I played a Corona Guild the other day and it was a super nice guitar. I like the history of Westerly, but I would welcome that Corona anytime.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm looking forward to participating in the group.

I used to just come and read the threads for quite a while before I joined. There's a WEALTH of lore stored in them, well-seasoned with our usual humor!

That was definitely the time of the transition period (2001-2002). I don't know this for sure, but I seriously doubt that any of the guitars that were manufactured in Corona had Westerly labels in 'em; you can almost certainly trust the label on this one. If you want some certainty, you might want to contact Hans Moust by PM... If you have the serial number, he can probably tell you definitively.

Greetings JerryR. Thanks for the welcome. My son has an Epiphone, too. It was his first guitar. Now 3 Gretches, a Telecaster, a Dixon and a Big Baby Taylor have been added. I think I know where he got the guitar gene.
