I spent the weekend counting late winter birds up near the Canadian border. On Saturday, I was keeping an eye out for a certain species of gull with silver-colored Fish and Wildlife Service bands on their right legs. Didn't find one all day.
We stopped in to have dinner and a couple of libations and not long after she was seated, Cindy said, "look at that gull."

Hard to believe, but there was one of the banded gulls on the deck railing right outside the window from our table! A reason for more ale!!

Different kind of GAS (Gull Activity Study) but there you go!

Is there a Gumbo recipe for those ?
In south Louisiana when I was growing up, my grandma made gumbo out of just about anything! And it was always good! Whatever grandpa brought home from hunting or fishing or chasing or trapping, C'est bon!

All I know about gulls is that their sh*t is even harder to clean off the car than pigeon sh*t

I'm with you on that one, Jerry. Even worse? Turkey Vultures, which are common around here.

Don't get them here in the UK though I've seen them in the US often enough. We have a lot of common buzzards round here - like a small eagle, but they haven't soiled my car - yet
