Did I break it?

While performing I will often pound out some of the beats on the face of my guitar. Last week I was doing so and suddenly heard a loud pop-like sound emanate from my guitar. Since then, I haven't noticed any change in the sound or performance of my guitar but I'm wondering whether a glue joint has popped on some bracing, what the implications of such an event might be, who be qualified to do the repair, as well as, how it would be undertaken. Can I do the repair myself?

Go to the local auto parts store and get an inspection mirror. If you knocked a brace loose, just a matter of some glue, but I probably would have a repair guy do ti.

An easy test that has worked for me in the past is just tapping the guitar. If you hear a rattling then chances are a brace came loose.

i tend to play the same way sometimes & have once learned the hard way about the results of getting carried away  needed a brace reglued.
im my mind, any popping or crackling sound that comes unexpectedly means caution.

ESPECIALLY those!!

Popping or crackling or rustling sounds coming out of an acoustic guitar can mean...
1. You mistook it for a drum.
2. You're sitting on it.
3. You don't play it often enough and mice have taken up residence.

All involve some form of guitar abuse, usually a misdemeanor but a felony in Tennessee.
