LOL - yup!

BTW, for those wondering why I picked the 'burst, here's the deal:

The red one has some issues. The nut is loose (plays fine while strung, but needs to be reglued), it has holes in the top, holes drilled into the top, and an oddly light-colored fretboard. Although it's pretty, it just doesn't "wow" me.

The sunburst one is *mint*. Mint appeals to me. It has a darker fretboard, is just a touch more resonant, has much more visible flame (which I love), and just feels and looks sexier to me. The case is also mint on this one while the red one has some minor tears here and there.

I generally don't like tobacco burst guitars, but I like this one because it's different than my other guitars, it's got that killer SFIII-90 tone, plays and looks like a dream, and has zero issues.

You asked for opinions, here's mine one day late: The burst is blowing the red out of water. So it'd be the one I keep.

Congrats GAD, Sounds like it all worked out like it was supposed to. Anything that can keep her interested in playing is a worthy investment! I wish I had someone nudging me to continue to learn guitar at an earlier age. Bravo my friend!:applouse:

She's a freshman in high school

At that age, with passion for music (and in this case, good equipment), they excel like you would not believe. I wish I was young again, and pushed myself to learn more, more, more.

Good taste, as always. :)

You and me both, and thanks!

It's scary how quickly she's progressed once she set her mind to it. I was the same way when I was her age, but she's got practically infinite access to chord charts. We had to either continuously pick up the record needle or go buy those crappy music books from a music store 20 miles away.

I agree today's access to guitar chords, tabs, theory, videos, etc. definitely makes a huge difference. The search for information was difficult years ago - like the Beatles going across town to learn a single chord - and much of the sheet music guitar chords I had access to were just wrong (see the classic "Beatles Complete" book).

BUT - it's still all about focus and determination, and "practice practice, practice". It is great that she wants to learn, that is the most important step! And if she's playing that particular guitar, watch out!

So true. FWIW, she has been in her room for hours each day playing that guitar, so I'd say it was the right choice. Her bookmarks are filled with songs she likes, and she's picking up cool phrasing techniques that she doesn't even realize. I caught her palm-muting some chords and asked her about it and she just sort of shrugged and said, "I dunno - it sounds cool when I do this." Her young elastic brain just amazes me.

That last pic you posted...Damn! That's an exceptionally nice looking guitar, love that tobacco sunburst.

Thanks! The camera shows red highlights that you don't really see in person, but it also doesn't show the flame quite as well. No matter how you look at it, it really is a stunning guitar.

My house is a wreck due to some construction we have going on, and I don't even have access to my amp(s). I can't wait to plug these P90s in and make them roar.
