After dropping off a few guitars in Boston to get worked on I happened into Guitar Center, and this is what I found...

I plugged it into the tweed Fender you see in the background, and it sounded very good. I am not seeing anything on it that appears to be an issue, but I did not take a real close look at it. The action is good, and the finish looks quite clean. At $500 it is a very sweet guitar.

I'm thinking only the Korean-made ones have a "Guild" TRC, maybe someone else could comment on this.

The DeArmonds look pretty good in the pics I've seen, and cost a whole lot less than Guild. Matter of curiosity, are they any good? Maybe like Epiphone vs Gibson (though Epi might have better quality control)? Just asking.

This is the first I have ever seen of them, but it sounded pretty good to me. It didn't have quite the feel of the Guild Starfire, but for a third the price it's a great deal, and it does play very nicely. I believe it was made in Korea, but I am not 100% sure. As for the T stop I don't know Boston that well, but my wife seems to think it is the Kenmore stop (she is very familiar with Boston). I always drive in, park across from Berkley, and if I want to head to Guitar Center after dropping my guitars off to be worked on I walk there as it is probably less than a one mile walk from Berkley.

A call to GC would probably get you that information.

If you get off in Kenmore Square and walk down to Fenway you will find GC behind the park right next to Jerry Remmy's restaurant. The Dearmonds come very highly recommended. I believe the First Korean models were American parts assembled in Korea. Could be wrong.

There are very well made guitars. I've owned several De Armond solid bodies and was very happy with them. I believe these Korean DeArmonds were made by Cort, another very under rated guitar. The pickups are US made by Fender. The Starfires were going for about $300 several years ago, and are now starting to increase in value. They don't make 'em any more! Much better than any Epiphone.

I've been in that GC - nice store, actually. That looks like a good deal - can't go too wrong for $500!
