Any thoughts on these two models, and how much should one expect to pay used in excellent condition? Thanks. Dave

Hey guildman63,

I have a DeArmond M75T in silver. Fit and finish is very good, playability is as good as my Strat or SG, love the pups but the original pots and switches could be better and I would suggest replacing them. As far as price, doing some quick checking it seems to be all over the board from $300 to $700. Personally I think the $300 to $400 is about right. The only thing I would warn you about is the weight. It’s a chunk! Probably why it has such good sustain. I ended up digging out my old 3” wide strap from the 70’s and that helped.

Guildman:

I've seen them in that same range Dane cites. Having done this once, I think 475 to 500 is the target range for improved, excellent condition versions. By improved, meaning new pots, caps, jack, switch, properly set up.

My M75T came to me for 350, in near new original condition. It's been more than improved, now with the above changes plus a new nut, treble bleed mod on the neck p/u, new frets and Gretsch hardshell case. Before I came to my senses, I had been offering this one for trade at 500. Luckily no one realized this guitar was as good as described, so I still have it. Point is, if you can find one significantly upgraded, you're better off. The electronics are the weak point on IMO. Also on the T model, the nut caused no end of tuning problems. (New tuners is not something you should need here.) I can't generalize from my fret job experience with this M75T. Every other dearmond I've owned had excellent frets. Hopefully you'll find one like that.
