Mrs. Wests's daughter had actually planned to get married in Houston last October. As the wedding date was approaching (A Saturday), so was hurricane Ike. Along about Tuesday, I told Mrs. West we might be going, about Thursday, I told her we weren't going.
The soon-to-be husband went ahead and flew in all of his relatives. They arrived in Houston Thursday and Friday morning that week. Hurricane Ike hit downtown Houston that Saturday morning with a fury..... 110-120 mph winds. The kids and the relatives hunkered down in a downtown hotel.
At the establishment in which they intended to be married, the roof caved in. With way too little insurance and Mrs. West's daughter's $10,000 deposit in hand, that establishment went bankrupt. The $10,000 deposit gone, court action is pending.
They've finally gotten around to getting married, this time as far away from the coast as they could get.
