Hi everyone,
I'm new to the Guild forum but have been a Guild aficianado for years. I have 2 Guild Jumbos. An F212 and a newer
GAD-JF30. The GAD-JF30 sounds absolutely amazing to me. I don't care that it was made in China the craftsmanship and tone are absolute 100% Guild. I purchased the GAD for $450 used in a Guitar center. Isn't that amazing? My son and I compared it to all the "high quality " guitars in GC's special room. The only guitars that were close were the Taylors.

My real question is about my F212. I bought it in the early 80's used and it sounds absolutely marvelous as well. I am trying to date it. It has a serial number of 65056. I checked the Guild site and there is no serial number like that at all. They all begin with letters. Can anyone help me date this guitar? It's pretty old. The spruce top has really darkened and it makes the spruce top of the GAD look pale. Thanks for any help.

Welcome aboard, Bernie.

Your F-212 is from 1972, you just didn't scroll down enough.

Hans Moust's "The Guild Guitar Book" dates your F-212 to 1972, Bernie. [edit, I see 'Strang beat me to it. :) ]

Welcome to LTG.

I played a GADJF3012 recently and liked it, but if you ever do have a chance be sure to match it up against a USA-made version. In any case, that's a very good value!

Thanks Strang and Chazmo,

Strang, you're right. I just didn't scroll down enough. '72, that makes it 27years old and sounding better every year.

I've seen a few guitars I wouldn't mind dating, but I didn't have the nerve to ask them out....
