Maybe Fender has been steathly building up a presence all along...be nice if they could come out of the closet a bit more though....nothing to be ashamed of with the new factory products....I love mine..by the way the closing number on the first of the "new" Tonight shows showed the act who I forget the name of, using twin dreads with the new look. Steff,

They mentioned to us at LMG that some big-time marketing consultants had been brought in to help chart out Guild's path. All I can say about that is that it was simply refreshing to hear that there was *some* plan being wrought. I don't know if the low-key advertising is part of that plan, but I really do like it. It does seem like these ads started sometime after LMG... I'm not sure.

Anyone a "Mad Men" fan out there? Where's Donny Draper when you need him?

I don't usually watch much TV but tuned in to see Jays' return among all the crap flying around at that time....was surprised and deligthted to see the closing act using a couple of the new Guilds...thats MAJOR exposure...and I wish I could remembet the couple doing the number.....I've heard the tune on the radio too, so lets hope they get lots more exposure with their Guilds.......Steffan

An ad for the D-55? I read somewhere that it had been discontinued just recently. Is this not true?

This month's Vintage Guitar Magazine has a full page pic of a new D-55. Only downside is that it has the straplock button on the upper side bout (since removed if I understand correctly).

That, I think, is not correct. The D-55 is the flagship of the line, and I think the highest volume seller (I'm not 100% certain of that). What *might* be going on is that New Hartford may hold up production schedule at some point to let demand catch up, but discontinuing the D-55??? No, I don't think so.
