I thought I would make a couple quick comparison videos of my D40 vs. my D50 in case anyone is interested.

The D40 is a 2018 Traditional (Oxnard) and is strung with Daddario Nickel Bronze lights. The D50 is a Bluegrass Special/Traditional from 2012 (New Hartford) strung with Daddario 80/20 bronze lights. Both string sets are fresh. In person, they share more similarities than differences for sure.

D40=natural
D50=sunburst

Nice compare and contrasting, thanks for doing that! I like the way the D-40 Trad sounds for picking and the D-50 for strumming.

man, they both sound fantastic, but I think I prefer the D50 to my ears. Thanks for doing that Dave.

Both guitars sound great! Thanks for sharing this. My personal preference is the D40 Traditional, I like it's crisper, clearer sound but I'm sure I'd be happy with either guitar.

Cool comparison Dave. All three sound terrific. It comes down to personal preference. I like clarity the D40 and D30, and think they would excel at fast picking and to cut through in a band setting. I would love the lushness of the D50 for a solo singer player setting. You are lucky to have them all.

Great comparison, thanks. All three guitars sound terrific.

As a largely solo performer, I'm partial to rosewood, but the mahogany and maple sound terrific, too.
