Has anyone ever been able to order a custom guild? And will we ever see it?

I was thinking about it earlier when I wanted a 12 fret F-30 or f-20, that could be a fingerpickers delight! Give me the factory phone number, I'll pay for the prototype!
And last but not least, if you could make a custom guild what would it be?

12 fret, slotted head, wide neck, some kind of spruce top. Not sure for the back and sides, maybe mahogany as the only hog I have is my old F-212, maybe koa because it looks so neat.

I could go for a custom like this. Although the folks on the Martin forum have a "custom Martin forum" guitar with these exact specs.

A single pickup X-170 (thinline), nitro sunburst.

Guild could move into the jazz guitar market. Fender currently has nothing for that market. The Benedetto Bravo http://www.archtop.com/ac_08bravo.html and the Sadowsky Jim Hall http://www.sadowsky.com/instruments/hall_model.html sell fairly well in jazz circles at 4-5k, so there's a big gap between those and the imports. If Guild could make a pro quality instrument along those lines for 3k I think they'd sell.

Theem, this could be a direction for New Hartford to go. I can't recall if we covered this question in teh Q&A session we had, but I thought so... In any case, Taylor, and to a lesser degree(?) Martin do this, and so should Guild if they want to be a top tier player. Customized 12-fret, though, stuff like that requires special tooling and significant design elements in the guitar. More likely, a BTO program like Taylor, where you can do certain relatively painless mods (fretboard inlays, binding choices, etc.) to a given product, would be the likely direction.

I think Tacoma actually took the F-30 and F-40 body styles and made the Contemporary Series out of them. The forthcoming Standard Series from NH is not nearly this big a departure but will certainly broaden the product line.

I'm with you guys! I was thinking about something in the line of a guild answer to the 0, 00 and 000-28vs. I think there is a market for it, especially if guild manages to hit a good price point on them. The martins are around 3 grand, and we all know guild has a tendency for better price points. 12frets got such beautiful note seperation when fingerpicked: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuCJDoo6zjU

And custom shop could be as chazmo pointed out, different necks, tuners, bindings, woods, inlays and such.

Lee Trevino once said that if you find yourself in a thunderstorm on the golf course, hold a 1 iron over your head. He claimed that the Good Lord couldn't hit a 1 iron. I wouldn't bet on that though.

I'd order a custom Parlor guitar with 8 1/2 upper bout, 12 lower bout, 24 1/2 scale, vintage style slotted headstock and open gear tuners, made of mahogany with a old Hoboken Guild style headstock logo
