....and you can even get'em at Waly World!!! (Makes me somewhat sad I will add, but this is how business goes I guess... c'est la vie!)

I feel your sadness, but in reality WalMart is trying to compete with Amazon as the go-to place to buy anything online. Notice that the purchase is actually fulfilled by Music123. I guess it's easier to go to walmart.com or amazon.com and look for what you want than google it and visit a bunch of different retailer websites.

I'm not sure it's a totally bad evolution of online shopping, but I don't like the way either of those retailers are implementing it. I think I would like to see an online marketplace website where anyone could sell. There would be absolutely no central warehouse or fulfillment center. You'd go to the website, just like you go to amazon.com, search for what you want, maybe compare different vendors, put whatever you want into your cart, and then the order would be forwarded to Music123 or wherever. It would be easier for little guys to promote their stuff and easier for shoppers too. It could be as easy as Amazon, but without amazon.

Hello to all! I'm considering buying S 100 for some time now, but since I haven't had an oportunity to try it out (Serbia...), I'd really appreciate some advice. The thing is, although I really love the whole Guild gist, and I like a lot about S 100, I haven't found a YT video that shows how this guitar sounds with serious distortion. I'm thinking Alice In Chains and Down mostly, since my band plays that kind of stuff. And also, this guitar sounds a bit... trebly? Almost like there isn't enough low end? Or is it just the way those guys on YT wanted it? The alternative at the same price range would be Gibson SGJ, which sounds a bit thicker. So, can anyone help me out? Sludgy, low tuned thick sound with this guitar, or not?

Hello Vladimir, Welcome to LTG.

I like Down and A.I.C too. I saw them both when they toured Australia together in 2014 and it was a killer show ! A.I.C were very good but Down tore the place apart.
I agree with you, there`s not many YT demos that show how this guitar sounds with serious distortion.
Anyway, I listen to and play this style of music and I know that the S100 can give you that sound. The HB1 pickups are very versatile and can sound trebly to people because
they have great clarity and are not muddy. I use a Wampler triple wreck pedal and it gets the perfect sound for me, very thick and juicy. Do you use a dirt pedal or are you
plugged in straight to your amp ? Either way, spending some time fiddling with the knobs on your amp, pedals or guitar can give you so many different sounds. I like a warm, thick
sound and both my vintage and modern S100`s can give me that.

I like this demo, the opening song reminds me a lot of Rusty Cage by Soundgarden.

Hi, Vlad. Check out some Soundgarden live videos. Kim Thayil gets those deep, chugging sounds out of the S-100. Welcome to the LTG.

Guys, thank you all for the warm welcome. I'll order the black one today, so I guess it'll arrive in 2-3 weeks. Rob, I am using only my Peavey Bandit 112, I might consider a pedal or two when I recover financially :) Probably BAT Pharaoh, if I manage to find one. The amp's high gain setting is adequate enough for just about everything, except for extreme metal. I'll let you guys know how it sounds, maybe even a small high gain demo, if I manage to get around a half-descent camera. Looking forward to be a part of this community.

Thanks for your help, cheers :very_drunk:

Los Angeles nailed it. However, I had one of the first 2013 MIK's and the pickups sounded great. Maybe the setup was just dialed in nice.

Having said that, the '70's S-100's are the best, but not for everyone. 90's reissues are great, but not for everyone. If you're going to gamble on a Korean one without playing it first, I'd look for one with from the second round with the bigger HB-1 style p'ups instead of the mini-buckers. I know of someone who just grabbed a used one in mint condition for roughly half the going rate new.

The neck is pretty much the same as a '90's reissue IIRC: parallel to the body with the tailpiece further back like a '70's S-100 from the first half of the decade. Pretty damn nice too for being non-American made.

Keep an eye on Reverb.

Good luck!

Vlad, I play everything from country twang to blues to screaming rock with my S100. It is very versatile.
