I am trying to confirm a story of my Guild. It was purchased new in1967 by my uncle who was told that it was constructed during a strike. Because of this strike the luthiers were using what parts they had to complete projects. My understanding is that my T-100D body has a Starfire III neck, which is slightly different.
I am wondering if there is any validity to this story?!
Hello jrich78,
Welcome! It doesn't sound like a valid story to me. Actually, I would think that during a strike nothing would be constructed at all. 1967 was a busy period at Guild since they were setting up a new production line and training the new workers for the soon-to-be starting Westerly location.
From what I've learned about Guild there were not any work interruptions during that particular period.
However, a Starfire neck on a T-100D does sound like something that could have happened at Guild. These kind of things would be done on a regular basis; especially during the '60s.
Go ahead and show us some photos of your guitar and we should be able to tell you what's different ( from the standard) on your guitar.
Sincerely,
Hans Moust
