So I'm going in Tuesday to get my heart jump-started. I have been in Afib for a while now, and they tried to bring it around with medication, but that made me sicker than a dog so I stopped taking it.

Because of the Afib, I've been feeling horrible - tired, short of breath, on supplemental O2. I hope this procedure helps me get back to my normal.

I had cardioversion once before, a few years ago, and it worked well but I guess it doesn't last forever.

Good luck! When it's over and you're feeling better, you should add "Tin Man" by America to your repertoire...

And when you wake up, I wish we were all there singing and playing our guitars in front of you. Hey, I can say that I've had it done. ;)

It's been a routine procedure for many years. You'll be happy once it's done. Thoughts are with you!

Something tells me I don't want to wake up to strings playing, LOL!
Not to worry. You would not mistake my string playing for any kind of heavenly ensemble. Then again, that might make you consider the "down elevator". ???

In seriousness, I do wish you the best and hope all goes well and they get you back where you need to be and you feel better instantaneously. All the best to you!

Hey buddy, I'm sorry about this. I have a bit of experience with a-fib. Went into a-fib about 2.5 years ago. Hospitalized which you DON'T WANT AT ALL, but then after 5 days they cardioverted me. They should have started with that!! You go down to the Cath Lab and they prep you and then kinda knock you out, and then wake you up... in normal sinus rhythm!! Easy peasy!!

So after my second Moderna shot, Don got a little sick (we've both had the virus already) and I was sick for two days and then suddenly..... that creepy flip-flop feeling in my chest!! Back in a-fib. They put me on medication for two weeks. Nothing. Worst two weeks of my life. Waiting, waiting, couldn't walk to the kitchen without being totally out of breath. I thought I was probably going to die and all anyone kept saying is "some people live with a-fib for their lives...." YEAH BUT I'M NOT ONE OF THEM!! I'M IMMOBILIZED!!"

So then we scheduled the cardioversion which worked so well before. Yaay! And then because it was another week out, i was 3 weeks in a-fib. Not fun!! Then they called me from the hospital to show up and do blood work and all this shizzle, and that night, honestly, I went to sleep and then woke up in normal sinus rhythm!! NO LIE! So then back to the cardiologist and they're like, we'll let you know. WHAT?? I'm in sinus rhythm, yeah? Well yeah but... wait. Later that day they said okay you're good, the procedure is cancelled followup in three weeks!! Which will be next week.

Keep taking your meds (probably amiodarone or Multaq?) and good luck. Cardioversion is not the big bad bear. They just shock you back into NSR.

Good luck my friend. I know what you're going through!! (y)(y)

I quit taking the Amiodorone because it made me sicker than a dog! Felt like I swallowed a brick and there it laid in my lower intestine.

Cardioversion is tomorrow.

Amiodarone is kinda old-school. Been around forever. One of the reasons my doc gave me Multaq (newer and WAY more expensive) is because it has less side effects. Good luck tomorrow, dread. They'll have all your cylinders firing right in no time!!
