Here are some interesting photos cut and pasted from a post by "Hardprom" over on Beatgear Cavern.com:

Very cool! Thanks for posting these.

But, I gotta ask.... what's the Guild? Almost looks like a DE model.

I saw Stephen Stills at the Ram's Head Tavern in Annapolis in October (twice), and the second time I was about 10 feet from his guitar racks.

Not a Guild in sight.

Sigh.

Hello Paul,

It is a DE Model! A DE-400 Bld. from 1965/1966. Very similar to the one on page 79 of The Guild Guitar Book.

Sincerely,

Jeez, I can't be the only one who knows the backstory on that!

That was Duane's personal DE and Stills beat it up so badly, Duane sent it back to the factory to get refurbished. Don't know why DE would lend out his personal guitar, but he did.

That wasn't the one seen at LMG II was it? I understand it was seen there (in the finish shop?), although I personally did not see it...I was probably in apoplexy standing under the Starfire body we didn't see there...

Hello Default,

That story was published in Guitar Player Magazine sometime during the '80s. At that time Duane's personal DE-500 was restored but that was not the same guitar that Steve Stills is holding in the photos; that's a DE-400.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

I have a pretty beat up copy of that, and Volume II. Both highly used (and perhaps used "high"!!).

In the 70's I worked in record store - those were very popular sheet music books. There's probably a total of ten twenty chords in each book, nothing below the third fret, but it's accurate enough to have some fun! Gotta love Neil!!

Back when I was in High School I saw them play in Hollywood at the Hullabaloo. In fact I had almost the same Guild Stills was playing, except it was Cherry Red but the knobs were different. Mine was a Starfire III, not sure what his is. I wish I would have kept that guitar, but as a kid you know how other things became more important. Took me another 40 years to get another Guild Archtop, my X170.

It was against the lefthand wall as you walked in. I'm going to pretend my Sf was the one hanging up, whether it's true or not, lol.

Ah, I'm sure that it was, Steve  It was only after the fact that I heard his piece was in there...saw the Cheap Trick guitars, but not his... :(

Had there been a cherry-red one hanging there, I would have been prostrate (thats "prostrate" not "prostate") before SWMBO, singing "Please, Please, Please!" (HAH! Good Gawd! Mercy!...followed by footwork...)

Get those pot codes yet? Oops, wrong thread
