He's 15 and only playing for a couple of months.

Very nice! Also will stand out a bit with a lot of kids learning on more common precision or jazz bass style instruments. When I first started I was happy to have a bass in general but always wished it was a more unique design than just a boring Squier p bass. I would have loved that pilot! Congrats!!

If the DeArmond Pilot is like the "regular" Pilot, try the gig bag before you buy. Pilot bodies are a bit longer than Fenders, and you need a generously sized bag for one.

Perhaps a gig bag for the Jaguar bass will fit the Pilot...
