Just saw it in the news. Very sad. As of right now, no fatalities are reported, just many people injured.

As an avid runner and married to a Boston Marathon finisher, this breaks my heart. We have friends running it this year. They are alive.

Watching TV news now. 2 deaths 22 injuries. 2 explosions earlier and a third about 15 minutes ago. Apparently bombs left on the side walk.

Oh Jeeze..... I went on Facebook to complain about the wind here and whine for a bit and then people in Boston are getting blown up. Golly gee..... I really worry about our future. Death and dismemberment. So senseless......

Thats my hometown. I have walked that street many, many times. I feel sad and violated and angry. I hope they find whoever perpetrated this terrible act. Heart goes out to the folks injured and killed.

I always think of the Boston Marathon as an event of accomplishment for so many folks (26,000 entrees this year) who train and look forward to running in the premier marathon...you know, a happy event. Gosh, I'm stunned............saddened............praying for the injured and deceased. ::::verysad::::

I watched the news for about 1/2 hour then had to shut it off. They make me sick, how they reports things like this.
All speculation and they want to put the fear of God in us.
I'll wait for things to settle down to find out what really has happened.

I do feel for the people affected. Prayers go out to them.

Entire BPD has been called into service so we haven't been able to get in touch with my sis in law. She usually goes to the race as a spectator but she usually stays down on Commonwealth Ave so not that near to Copley. I'm sure she'll have stories to tell when we finally get through to her. What a freakin mess.

I finally turned the channel as well. 24 hour news networks are not always a good thing as they spend much of the time speculating as they wait for new updates.

I agree - the speculation is worse than the actual event. The "talking heads" try to outdo each other. Once things settle down, I'm sure the actual news will be bad enough.

It must be difficult to manage security at such a huge event. But let's hope they improve it, and the Marathon goes on safely in future years.

Bruin/Senators game tonight was very appropriately postponed.

I couldn't agree more. Try the BBC. No nonsense, no contrived controversy, no fear mongering, just news.

I was going to let this slide but then decided NO. In what world is "talking" and "speculation" a worse event then people getting killed and maimed?

If the notion that a few people in the news business are reporting, speculating, talking, a'ka doing there job, and this is some vile event worse than a senseless act of terrorism is common thought in LTG land then colour me gone.

Uhmmmm, I don't know how this got so off-track, but it's okay to dislike .... what has it been since the incident, 5 + hours of talking? And there is less than 4 minutes of facts. It's okay to dislike that. Just tune out. No one is saying this event isn't significant and horrific. But watching hour after hour of it is not going to help anyone or keep you more informed.

Let's calm down here......

Ok just heard from sis in law. There were four bombs, two went off. The bomb dogs sniffed out the other two. One bomb was ignited by the bomb squad the other I think they dismantled. She's fine but may have to go to work later. Don't know about the fire at the library. She say's the event was very complicated and well planned. That's all she heard so far.
