New member, so I wanted to post a photo of my 98 'bird. I absolutely love it. I had an opportunity to buy a late 90s 'bird in 2004 but opted to buy a 2000 Gibson Les Paul R7 Gold top instead and while its a great guitar, I always kicked myself for not getting it. Last month, I saw this on reverb and snagged it immediately. Its my favorite by far of my collection. It plays like a dream. I love the Duncan 59 and JB pickups and man, its simply gorgeous. I've read on here about people complaining about the poly finish but it doesn't bother me at all. I'm looking forward to getting a Nightbird, hopefully. Anyway, great forum.

Beautiful! I have I think four Nightbirds and probably four Bluesbirds and I've never had a complaint about the Bluesbird finishes. IMO people put too much weight into finish types. A great guitar is a great guitar.

That is an awesome looking Bluesbird, Benji8461!

I truly appreciate what this site provides and the level of detail, experience, and opinions that are shared willingly. I've learned much and continue to be impressed with Guild guitars to such an extent that they make up the majority of my collection. And to think it started with a DeArmond Pilot Bass I got nearly 15 years ago for under $150.

My latest acquisition is this lovely Corona Bluesbird (CM000085 w/Custom Shop sticker). I'd always wanted to compare one to my Les Paul Traditional that I never really bonded with. It's cool to see them side by side, noting that the Bluesbird is just slightly heftier (dimensionally, not in weight). The quilting isn't quite as stunning as Benji8461's, but it's heads above the LP in almost every way. After auditioning them for two months, I found myself clearly gravitating to the Bluesbird. It's more comfortable, better playablity, and wider tonal range. Oh...and the LP has found a new home after a quick sale just last week.

You can remove me from the list; it’s now with a new owner in Mississippi.

Hello Hannes,

Welcome! Nice one! Wasn't that formerly owned by Brent P.?

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

Wow, first repy is Hans Moust himself. (of course I got your book) I feel honored! And thanks for the warm welcome also. Concerning your question: I don't know. I bought it in 2009 from the bay. Don't remeber the sellers name. Want the serial number?

I have a Corona era Bluesbird in flamed maple top that I am wondering about the date and if the pickups are era correct or aftermarket...I have enclosed pictures...the pickups are Seymour Duncan 59's. The serial number of the guitar is CM000378. Any help will be appreciated.

Is there an excel spreadsheet somewhere that could be referenced for this? If I can find other guitars with serial numbers above and below than I can probably get a good guess from that.

I have Bluesbird CM000185. It is from 2002... same natural or amber top coloring as yours. I would assume yours is from 2002 or 2003. The pickups are correct for your guitar! There are pictures of mine in the early parts of this thread.

EDIT: Found my first post in this thread... Pics are from the original owner.

You have a nice one for sure!

Do we have a cutoff between 2001 and 2002 Corona Bluesbird serial numbers? I've seen the single and low double-digit CM0000s confirmed as 2001 and CM000185 is 2002. Any clear indication on where would my CM000085 with non-builder-specific Custom Shop decal fall? In any case, It's a wonderful guitar and, at the very least, I want to accurately represent it in my signature. :)

Thank you....it does appear to be a consensus 2002 and factory stock pickups....thank you
Correct, year 2002 and original pickups, the full name of them is:
Neck: Seymour Duncan Classic Cover™ series '59 model™ SH-1N
Bridge: Seymour Duncan Classic Cover™ series '59 model™ SH-1B
which were designed to deliver classic P.A.F. tone.

I don't have the exact last number for 2001 but 62 was end of 2001 so 85 seems to be already in 2002.

1997 Bluesbird in natural(?). Stock Duncan pickups, plays like a dream, sounds even better. I also have a '97 Starfire II, in a trans red. That one, I swapped out the wood bridge for an aluminum one, and put a B6 on it. Love them both.
