And a Lefty Frizell song too!!!! Woohoo! Love Buddy Miller, didn't know he had an Aristocrat. More proof the man has taste.

Very nice.....thanks for posting!

From the switch position, it looks like he's using just the neck pickup.....so it could just as well be the sound of single pickup M-65 Freshman!

As NeoFauve points out, Miller's movement of his picking attack between bridge and neck certainly shows the variation in tone one can get playing without a bridge pickup.

Nevertheless.....I'd just love to have a nice early Aristocrat someday.

I started lusting after Aristocrats when I first became aware of them, back when I was thinking of getting a Bluesbird.
I'd never heard one. The idea of a small hollowbody just apealed to me.
I'd read that Billy Bauer used one, but any recordings I found of him predated the Aristocrat. So, he was likely using a more conventional, jazzbox. There's that guy in Jack White's non-stripe band who used(s) one. But I'm not a fan.
This clip is the first time I've actually seen/heard one used in a context I reeeeaally dig.
It sort of makes my ridiculous fantasy seem just a little less ridiculous. :D

NeoFauve, I have two good friends who own one. Having played those guitars, I can say my lust for one isn't diminished one bit. :|
