cancel reguest - another f-ing cracked headstock. WTF Guild! seriously whats with all the cracked necks? POS's
I think cracked necks have more to do with the person caring-or more likely not caring- for the guitar than the maker.

maybe.. but I sure see allot of Guilds with neck issues.
A lot of Gibsons over on the Gear Page, too. They're always "repaired, rock solid."

Angled head stocks are more prone to breaks with mishandling. And those are the ones that people are more likely to get rid of, the damaged stuff, Guild or otherwise. Nothing in the Guild's neck makes it more or less prone than others, AFAIK.

Guitars in cases that fall flat on their backs will often snap a headstock. Instruments used by professionals in working environments will be knocked over in their cases and abused by third party handlers much more often than the average weekend warriors and couch queens. This is why the headstock break happens to so many roadworn Guilds, Gibbys, and Gretches, but not so many creampuff Rickys. It's not so much a design or character flaw as it is the result of being a tool on a work site with drunken feet and careless staff in the vicinity. Studio instruments have it a little bit better. Instead of tipping and crashing in a green room miles from home, they fall over in their cases and crack their necks in a state of the art, climate controlled and sonically balanced environment.

Unless the Rics happen to fall into the hands of Townshend.

Since you elected to edit your other comment, do you have any actual numbers for this claim?

One of the reasons I like Guild so much is that I have never had one with a neck issue that could not be easily resolved with a proper setup.

I agree with AcornHouse. The question, perhaps, is if Guilds do incur headstock breaks more than other brands, which I do not believe they do, why would that be if there is nothing in their design that promotes that? Could it be that people, in general (not any of us out here!), consider a Guild to be less respectable, and therefore, do not afford them the same care as they would a vintage ES-175? I have no issues bringing my GSR's out and playing them, but I am anal about how I treat my guitars, so I can be nearly certain that nothing would ever happen to any of them. Others may have a vintage guitar by another manufacturer and a Guild, and perhaps they use the Guild for the heavy work, and the vintage to hang on the wall (figuratively, of course). Just a thought.

I grew up not 10 miles from Westtown NY, and talked to that guy. He's had it listed for a long time. Might not be going anywhere soon.

Guild was always a working musicians' guitar. I would figure that peg head breaks are the price of being used. Don't get me started about vintage Gretsches though. ;-)
