Very interesting.

I have to wonder, though whether the guitar in the photo is real. I would expect, for example, to see evidence of the jack, pots and connecting wiring that are not there. I could imagine some kind of reflective pickguard that hid those details but then I would not expect to see a portions of a polishing cloth package that is partially behind the guitar. A search for images of clear, Lucite or transparent guitars (think Dan Armstrong) turns up guitars with a non-transparent guard over the electronics or images photographed in such a way that you can't tell anything about the electronics. So I am inclined to believe that either the picture is not of a real object or the object is not a functional electric guitar.

Frono, that's what I was wondering, if the guitar was "made" just for the ad, and is not a working guitar. Or is it real, and therefore the "rarest" Guild of all??!!!

I imagine the acoustic version of the guitar in the ad had the "Ghost" label....

Here's another see-through from craigslist....

Back in the late 70s I thought those lucite guitars were the hottest things ever. The place where I bought my Guild in '79 had two hanging from the ceiling. They were there for probably a decade. :)

I too wondered about the see-through S300 on that ad. I bet Hans would know.

I think it was just an acrylic body with the parts surface mounted for the photo.

John

That's what I was trying to say. Surface mounting parts does not make it a functional guitar. Thank you.
