DB,

Looks like the average asking price on gbase is over $1,000, even without an original hard case, which is important for one of these due to their odd body shape. http://www.gbase.com/gear?q=guild+x79&minYear=&maxYear=&sort=-posted&focus=1

I have a red one (ex cond, ohc) that will be up on Jay Pilzer's New Hope Guitar Traders soon. I don't know what the price will be, but I guess about $1,000.

I think they're very cool, and I'd love to have one. Always something else in the way, though.

Funny story: Years ago I walked into my local music store, where I knew just about everyone there, and noticed a suddenly new pic on the wall. It was one of the owners posing with his band from the 80s. What caught my eye was the Guild X-79 in the pic!

I would never spend a grand for that guitar, but if I found one cheap locally, I might buy it. Would I ever take it out on a gig? Probably not. It's not my image. A little too odd and radical, and anything that looks like '80's hair band metal is definitely not my cup of tea.

I wouldn't spend $1,000 an X-79. I have 3 and none were higher than $300.

OK, does anyone have an X-79 for sale reasonably priced, in either blue or black sparkle? I'm GAS-ing now.
