Any Brian May owners out there?

It dawned on me this morning (sorry for the pun) that I've been poking around here for a few years now and haven't ever seen any mention of the varoius Brian May models.

Used to see them hanging on the wall at GC back in the 90s, but never had my hands on one. I always thought a factory-made copy of a homemade guitar was sort of ironic.

Maybe they aren't "Guild" enough to be of interest to the Guild fanatics likely to visit our board.

Although I understand that the 90's "re-issues" are much more faithful to Brian's original and a better instrument, I would like to have one the original 80's models. As soon as I see a red one for under $2000, I'm on it!

They do get mentioned. See this or this or even this, but you're right. People don't talk about them as much as other electrics, no one I can recall is GASsing for one and I can't recall any owners.

I bought and sold a Guild 1990's Brian May Red Special for around $2000 over the last three months. It was a beautiful guitar. Interesting tone options. Very light with the hollow body. The 24 inch scale was a bit difficult for me and the body cutaway was a bit out of wack for my 6'3" height. I bought it as a curiosity. I wasn't that crazy about the vibrato design. I think I would perfer the Kalher type as used on the 1980's models. I have noticed the 1980's models tend to run more expensive than the 1990's. Did anyone else notice that?

There are reported 316 of them from the '84 run with the Kahlers (and a handful with Tune-o-matics). The Brian May Owners List has about 40 serial numbers accounted for, all ranging from 100 to 315. Not a single serial number below 100, so I think it's safe to say they starting numbering them at 100 and there are only 216 of them built in total.

Compared to the 500 "Signatures", 100 "Specials" and 60-ish "Standards" - about 3 times as many.

They're well made, in typical Guild fashion, from both eras. Me likey
