I went by the Pawnshop in Plano today and took a look at the Guild they have. It is a D25C S/N 155443 and it has a red stain on it and the price has been raised to $499. Sounded good for what little I got to play on it, being a newby. Thought about getting it, but the wife would shoot me and tell God I died if I did :lol: ........slow944s

Yea, I think they did designate one D25 a "C"......can't remember why though........wait a minute......"Cherry" I think. The picture is one of a D25M......mahogany. Though they were all mahogany as far as I know.

A girlfriend I had back in the mid-70's had a Cherry Guild D-25...thought the top was spruce, but I might be mis-remembering.

Nice guitar, except for the tuners, but I put some Grovers on it, for her birthday...HUGE improvement. 8)

There was a D25C down here in San Antonio on craigslist about a week ago. It was definitely cherry. Advertised for $675; the ad was only up for a couple hours so it went quickly.

This gets a bit confusing, but I'll give it a shot. Hans can come clean things up after I demolish the facts......but here goes nothing.

All D25's had mahogany back and sides. The D25M, though designated "M" for mahogany, had a spruce top. The only D25's with mahogany tops were older 70's model flat backs. The D25C stood for cherry finish all over the guitar.......still had hog back and sides, but the top was spruce.

I'm not sure if some arched back D25's had hog tops, but I know it's been covered here before.

Fire away.

Yep, some archback 25s from 1974 (1975 also?) are all mahogany, I have one. Label says D25M. Loud sucker.

Harmony H-173 bought in 1960 (retired), Alvarez AC60S 2008, Eastman AC320ce 2008 "Hybrid", Guild GAD-JF30E(blonde) 2008, Guild JF55 1997, Guild D25M 1974, Martin Grand J35E 200

Since you passed on it because of an "evil wife" :lol: would you mind disclosing the location of that pawn shop? Or is it like a favorite fishing hole :lol:

I've bought a few guitars there;

A Sigma that I donated to a Veterans group, a nice early 70s Yamaha FG300, and a "lawsuit" 1978 Tak F340S. Usually very reasonable prices. I'll have to check out the Guild - Thanks!

Did I miss something? The coyotes around here certainly are.

Same here on the coyotes. I live in a rural area. Ever since I opened the garage door late one night and two of them were standing there staring at me, I take a pistola with me when I take the dog out.

I meant I really did love it West. I have a new respect for the man and his sense of humor.

They're all over the place out here Fast, but we rarely see them.....just hear them at night....a few sound like thousands. Like Governor Perry, love 'em or hate 'em.....I think they'll be with us for a long time :wink: .
