Someone posted on a Guild FB group that they thought the headstock was Guildish. It could be a Mark II. What do you think LTGers?

The guitar smash was apparently unscripted. That's Stephen Bishop playing the guitar ("On And On"). The song he's playing ("The Riddle Song") was selected since it was in the public domain and there was no money in the budget to pay for rights for anything else. Bishop saved the pieces and had the cast autograph them.

Somewhere out there is an interview with him in his home and he points out the remains.

From an interview with Bishop:

Mettler: And you kept the remnants of the guitar Belushi smashed, is that correct?

Bishop: Yeah, I have it in a frame in my house.

Mettler: What model and year was it?

Bishop: Oh God, it was just a cheap, nylon-string Spanish guitar. The cast wrote on the back of it, so I have John Belushi, Karen Allen; all of the people who were in the movie.

I'm not sure that's a definitive answer to Chris' question. But it was a pretty low budget film!

For those of us who happen to remember what it was like to be young and . . . . whatever . . . . ist here anything else in that movie that would justify spending effort to find and time to watch that movie ?

Just curious 😏 😂

It looks a lot like the many cheap MIJ/Korean classicals from that time. Doesn’t look much like the MKII I owned.

Find it and watch it - it is almost impossible to describe. All I know is every time I watch it I find new stuff to laugh about, and I've been watching it periodically since it was in theaters in 1978.

+1. Too many outrageous scenes to describe!

Am I mistaken that this has been discussed before and concluded it was not a Guild?
I know we have discussed it before but only found two times the video but no discussion about the guitar...
