Thank you gents for your kind comments. I'd love to learn and practise some wood-working skills. Alas, I don't have the room here at home for it. I'm already pretty well occupied with my Mammoth Ivory work, and my Turquoise and Amber jewellery.

Just remembered, I also did this, Swamp Kauri p/u rings for my Bluesbird. Although, as you can see, the photo. shows only one. It's just starting to lighten here and the outside temperature is -2C so I ain't going outside to take an up to date photo.

Having virtually no wood-working knowledge, I had to think very carefully about how to's and procedures, but I managed fairly successfully.

Lovely work, Coastie...I'm sure the Mrs. is very well pleased...how to's and procedures are things that can be learned...but creativity is something you're born with. :applouse:

I have to say Coastie, That has to be the most beautiful tops I think I have ever seen on a Bluesbird. Wonderful job on the pickup rings as well!

Hey Coastie , Do you have a web page?. I'd like to see that stuff.
Turquoise is so cool,(I remember seeing a mine called the The "Phoenix",you could do a working holiday, any Turquoise you found ,you could cash it in,But I now can't re-find the mine on the web) and Mammoth ivory ,where do you find that stuff?.Could guitar pins be turned out of that material?

Turns ou the NEW ZEALAND Goverment is finally changing the law concerning "Kauri".They are going to put a stop to the exportation of the so called "table tops".Exporters have been milling these in over size thicknesses.ie 5" thick and over, then selling them to places like china who re-saw them and make furniture.
About time.
And they should look at their own MP Judith Collins who is a co owner of one of theses places sending out tops. She is a nasty piece of work.

Hey 70.

Yes, guitar pins are turned out of Mammoth Ivory. Here's your man, Bob Colosi. http://www.guitarsaddles.com His products are highly recommended.

I'm working on a website for my crafts but so far, it has been a long process. I don't have a lot of patience when dealing with IT stuff.

Real Turquoise, and Polish Amber have become very expensive. I use Sleeping Beauty Turquoise ( from Arizona ) and dabble a bit in Jade and Bumblebee Jasper also. Jade and Ivory look great together but, unfortunately I've never been able to find genuine Pounamu beads.

I'll photograph some stuff and PM you. As Rachel said though, it won't happen overnight.

Nice fine day here on the Coast, albeit bloody cold.
