I love this little amp. Esp. the the battery feature. I take it down on the dock in the evening when the weather is nice and entertain the resident loons  . Haven't had a problem. I will also use it out on the patio. At night when I have a fire in the pit is really cool. 8)

Perhaps it is a blasphemy against all that is sacred about valves, but the Echo-Jet project is on the block. When it sells, a THR will be on the way.

I'm hoping to get the vid done with the goldtop and THR this weekend but in the mean time I have built a footswitcher for my THR10 which works a treat.

I'm looking to put a kit together to send out to others that might be interested... that is, if there is enough interest.

Basically the kit would mirror the 5 preset switches on top of the amp in a box at your feet. It requires soldering 10 points on one of the circuit boards and drilling 1 hole in the back of the chassis to mount the cable socket.

Kit would include socket with internal wiring ready to solder. Fully terminated 4m (12 foot) data cable. Aluminium floor box with 5 heavy duty footswitches fully wired to fitted socket. Plugs and sockets are 10 pin aircraft grade units.

All together cost would be around $80 plus shipping.

Also, I'm happy to provide just the details if anyone wants to source their own bits and pieces and have a go themselves...

Let me know,
Mick

The sockets I was waiting for finally showed up so here's a pic of the finished kit...

As I mentioned before basically I have duplicated the 5 buttons on top in 5 footswitches mounted in a floor box.

Here's the internal wiring...

And finally here's a short vid showing how it works... https://vimeo.com/50598749 this one has no audio but I'll do one later to show it all working with guitar in hand.

As I mentioned earlier, I am going to put this together as a kit for those wanting one. The kit will have flat ribbon cable cut to length and presoldered so it will line up perfectly with the solder points on the circuit board.

Cheers,
Mick

That's very cool Mick. I admire anyone with the skills and know-how to attempt anything like that...it all looks like rocket science to me :? . Glad you're enjoying your new gear man!

Great stuff Mick! I bet that mod gets to be really popular.

It appears that this brief tease has come to fruition. Glimpses of the X and C variations surfaced on-line in the last few days. If your curiosity is piqued, here are demos of the brand new THR5A,THR10C and THR10X models.

I'd tell you good folks more about the original THR10, but playing through it is a whole lot more fun than typing about it. My advice is to grab your favorite electric Guild and go demo one for yourself. It's an incredibly useful bit of kit.

Interest is certainly growing Littlesongs, just in the process of moving house at the moment and once done I will the first kits sent out and I'll get that vid with the mod and the goldtop done...

Hey Ravon, new house is going to have a dedicated office/studio all for me so the goldtop is going to get lots and lots of play very soon... just got to get the wife, kids and dog settled

Very very cool! Great job there too!

Thanks John, we have moved to a little township just outside Wagga on the Murrumbidgee River called Oura . We could host LMGIV-Australia in the house we have lol so the extra distance to town is certainly outweighed by the extra space we now have... especially the rehearsal/studio

Cheers,
Mick

Very nice Mick! I like the sound of that. :D
Zelja, Hagmeat, Fearless, Archtop animal,....You Aussie guys listening? 8)
I am seriously thinking about going for that THR5A. Watched the video and that certainly peaked my interest. Looks great, sounds great, and not to complex for me to get my head around.
Is getting one to run on 240v an option?

Should be no problem at all. The power supply is external and I'm pretty sure they run 15vDC from a 110-240AC adapter the same as most laptops. Mines not on hand to double check and I'll correct this if I'm wrong...

Hi all,
Took some time today to do the vid with audio to show how the THR10 footswitch controller I made works. It contains some pretty poor playing and narration but a very fine Guild Bluesbird Goldtop :D

Here's the link

Cheers,
Mick
