I saw that too. It's really wild. Almost like it's out of a science fiction movie - complete with the poor souls (well ... starfish) entombed in the ice.

Of course the story the article only touches on is the danger of scuba diving in that area.

Keep in mind that it has been sensationalized a bit. They switch from time-lapse to non-time-lapse without really saying what they're doing. Also keep in mind that although those poor starfish are frozen in the ice, they may or may not be dead...

thanks, Poser! Yeah, fascinating footage. Looks like a starfish convention, for sure! It appears that the kill ratio is actually pretty low; I imagine the dead ones will soon be gobbled up by bottom-feeding foragers.
