I need to get an accoustic electric for a church praise worship team I am playing on. I have a Starfire III and an X500. I think I know elcetrics pretty well. I know little about the accoustic electrics. I do know I absolutely love my Guilds fit finish necks pickups etc. What would you recommend I consider? If you know of a particular model that is under rated and a great buy please share it with me. Thanks, Raye

I just picked up a DV52NT with a pickup that absolutely rocks! Generally you can find them for under a grand. If your budget runs significantly lower take a look at the new GADs. Everyone on this forum that actually gets his/her hands on one seems to have good things to say. There's much to be said for buying a guitar that comes with a factory warranty.

Hi Raye,

Not knowing if you’re looking for new or used, or even what your budget is I’m going to keep my answer fairly general. I think a dreadnought Guild would do you well in your music ministry. But I would not get one with the D-Tar system installed. The D-Tar is ok, but it’s heavy, uses batteries, and you can do better with an aftermarket unit. I would go with the K&K Western Mini. That on a dread is a winning combo that will sound outstanding in worship service.

The person you'd like to talk to is Treem. Tristan has a nice collection of Guilds (all, suspiciously...Sunburst) and regularly plays at Services. I'm sure He'd be more than happy to give you some input as to what works and what doesn't.
