I recently did some electrical work for a friend of a friend, nothing elaborate, just installed a few new dimmers in his kitchen. I was there for 3, maybe 3-1/2 hours tops. I noticed that he had several Martin Ukeleles hanging on his walls and I asked about them. He had a total of 8, all of them from the early 1900's. I then told him I was a Guild guy, he never flinched but did smile. He said he had an old Guild Classical from the 60's and brought it out to show me. It was a 1966 Guild MKII.

My work done I was putting up my tools and he asked me how much I wanted for the job. I told him I was so impressed with the Martins and the Guild that it was my pleasure and we were even. He then goes back into his bedroom and returns with the Guild MKII and says here I want you to have this. A little pro bono came back ten fold. Here she is:

Sorry Joe. :( His kitchen is ALL stainless steel and granite, no wood at all. He bought the stainless counters and cabinets at an auction from a defunct restaurant.

I'm praying he needs more electrical work....I got my eye on one of those 1920's Martins!!!!

I'd be more than happy to cross over to stainless steel.

*I also do some electrical, so be sure to let me know if you get in over your head and need a hand. Might be a pretty good commute for me.

sweet snag. I love how the fret board is shaped around the sound hole. How does the old lady sound?

I havent had a chance to restring it, so, with that in mind it doesnt sound too bad. I'm used to steel string, classical not really my thing, however I love the old gal.

Good on ya! I long ago learned that "the more you give, the more you get" although the "get" is often times a sense of satisfaction, which at times can be priceless. Glad to see you got a good tangible "get" :D

You guys are too funny.   No giant compressors, turbines nor pipelines West.

I'll have specs and plans posted on image shack that the remainder of you can glance at to see if your particular specialty is needed. Bids can be submitted to me, payment will be accepted in pre-1970 Guilds, sorry no Martins. Please include a copy of your workers' compensation certificate and your firm's safety program. :p  :D
