What pattern of burst are these guitars. I don't have any burst finish right now, but you really have me thinking of one. Also with the dimensions of these guitars what typeof sound were they made to produce?
Thank you,
Craig
Hi Craig,
Both of these are called "Antique Burst", although the GAD's is considerably darker.
Tone differs dramatically between the two. The GAD-30 is OM sized with a relatively shallow body. It has a 1 3/4 inch nut and wide string separation at the saddle. Best suited for fingerstyle, its voice is bright but well balanced.
The F-47 has a much fuller tone, not surprising given its larger dimensions and especially its greater body depth. It is a great strummer, but also works well for fingerstyle. Nut width is 1 11/16 inch.
Interestingly, despite its smaller size and thinner tone, the GAD is louder than the F-47 by far.
The necks are also very different. The F47's neck is a little on the chunky side, though certainly comfortable. On the other hand, the GAD has an extremely low profile neck shape, making it feel thin and blazingly fast. I adapt pretty easily to a variety of neck widths/shapes, but I suspect that some folks would have a strong preference for one of these over the other.
I should also note that the F47, as you would expect, is much heavier than the GAD-30.
Hope that helps!
