Due to an unfortunate shipping incident ...
Hi Michael; ... isn't every 'shipping incident' unfortunate?
 Care to point the stinkfinger at which shipper?
Well, it was good old trusty USPS, whom I will defend to an extent because to date they've been impeccable in my experience. I've shipped dozens of guitars & pedals & even a few amps during the past few years with them. No issues at all. I thought this was as well packed as any other guitar I've shipped, but it's really tough to stomach because the F30R was in damn near pristine condition.
I'd recently had a K&K Pure Western Mini professionally installed, and though there was not a lot of room in the case to add extra padding, I did stuff as much cloth from a shirt as I could between the endpin/pickup area and the case for additional shock absorption. I also had what I thought was very adequate absorbent at the bottom... anymore & I couldn't have taped it shut at the top. So, yeah, another crack stemming from what, in this case, must've been a very a hard drop on the bottom of the box (endpin area). I keep thinking of things I could've or should've done differently, like use a brand new box, etc., but I think I just got hosed by somebody's rough &/or careless handling.
According to the luthier at the other end, the damage is such that a lot of work would need to be done just to get a better look at it inside to really know the extent of the damage... but it seems to be a huge de-valuation for the F30R even in the best case scenario. There are cracks near the endpin and on the top as I understand it.
Treem, you have no idea... I really debated for a while over even letting this one go, but it was a good trade... now gone to a very sad situation & at best a very unfortunate hassle. We'll see how they field the claim, etc. I really have no idea what to expect.
