Beautiful flame in that maple! Maybe you know; did Guild change the width of the neck at any point? My 2001 SFIV has a slightly narrower neck than my ES-335 Dot RI. That's the opposite of your vintage axes.

Guitarman:

I didn't measure the neck on the SF VI, but it feels around 1 11/16 wide at the nut. Maybe not quite that, but it definitely feels a touch wider than the 1 5/8 wide 80's X170 I tried recently. My '66 ES-335, by contrast, is the 1 9/16 width at the nut all the vintage hounds decry regularly.

It pays not to listen to hard to the experts. My 335 is one of the most playable instruments I've come across. A little tight down low, but it certainly never stopped me. The SF VI is appreciably more spacious in feel. Not just the wider neck ... it's how the neck feels right up to the body. The carve is perfect, makes for a comfortable, easy player.
