so, i just checked the Guild website for SAGs (sh!ts and g!ggles), and ended up taking a gander at the 2010 price list, specifically for the F-50R.

looks like MSRP has *really* gone up since last year:

385-2800-821 F-50R, Rosewood Jumbo, Natural, w/ Deluxe Case
$3,299.99
385-2800-837 F-50R, Rosewood Jumbo, Antique Burst, w/ Deluxe Case
$3,349.99
385-2806-821 F-50R w/ D-TAR®, Rosewood Jumbo, Natural, w/ Deluxe Case
$3,599.99
385-2806-837 F-50R w/ D-TAR®, Rosewood Jumbo, Antique Burst, w/ Deluxe Case
$3,649.99

now i'm incredibly happy i snagged my brand new '09 F-50R for $1,900 last December... 8)

I think that's a couple hundred bucks higher than last year. If I recall, MAP was somewhere around $2200 last year, so it'll probably be over $2300 this year, I guess.
For the record, Martin's Grand J-35E (3-piece back version of the F-50R) is listed at $3999. The Grand J12-40E special is listed at (gulp) $5199, which is their version of the F-512.

Looks like the Grand J-35E is a bargain, relatively speaking, though it'll still set you back more than a new F-50R!!

By the way, the Martin prices are with multi-source DTAR... That makes the -35E look even better!

ah, interesting. thanks for the comparison... again, fortunately, with the new F-50R, it's easier to tell myself i don't need another high-end Guild, or Martin, or Taylor, or...

Yeah the MSRPs are quite inflated also. I've seen some of these (more correctly, late 2009 models) going on ebay for about $1000 less than MSRP.

The key point in MSRP is Suggested. Most dealers will sell around 40 percent off MSRP, at least with other brands. Haven't shopped for a new Guild....

yeah, i know MSRP is always inflated, which allows dealers and vendors to offer great "discounts" off of MSRP. with that in mind, i still thought MSRP prices had gone up steeply this year, but i just looked up the list for 2009, and i see that they actually stayed the same. i thought i remembered MSRP for the F-50's in the high 2's for last year, but it looks like that's not the case; they actually stayed static...

Sincerely appreciate you setting the record straight, Acidtest, since it's been a subject of contention on some other threads late last year.

When I looked at this one last year, the tag said 2,499.

After the paramedics left, I snapped a couple of photos for my album of "not gonna buy but would take one as a gift" guitars.

If you're going to give one as a gift, then I'd really appreciate that !!

I'm sure you would, mate,
but allow me to reiterate.
I would TAKE one as a gift, not GIVE one!

Must be a hemisphere thing going on here.

Where is the 2010 price list? I only see the link to the 2009 one.

Upon closer inspection, I'm not seeing any differences between 2009 and 2010's prices, although I haven't checked *every* price.

Two sets of eyeballs, not to mention the associated great minds, working together to come to a conclusion. 8)
