I'm bored out of my mind sitting in Newark Airport with a five hour delay, so I decided to finish up this article on my 1997 Guild S100.

I'm stupidly tired and I'm not quite sure what time zone I'm in anymore (feels like Greenland. Is this Greenland?), so please do let me know if you see any typos or errors.

I've also added this to my GADsGuilds.com page.

Enjoy.

Great review, good stuff, almost everything you ever wanted to know about a Guild S-100 "SG copy"... but were afraid to ask. One question, pickup readings? Just through the guitar cord, if you could get readings of the bridge, neck, combination, etc with the phase switch.

Only reason I ask is that if memory serves me correctly, the JB is this killer sounding monster with about 16kΩ readings typically, probably a ceramic magnet p'up well suited for lots of genres, including thrash... Interesting that Guild contracted with SD for pickups, very good choice really.

I can see that these guitars have that super 90's quality, albeit late 90's, that my '92 SG standard relic exhibits. What people are now referring to as "the goodwood years" at Gibson, it looks like Guild was on the same page with quality of materials and workmanship.

Very fine looking guitar indeed.

Great write up, I'll be keeping my eyes open for one of those "other" guitars ;-)

PS There is an interesting typo one word away from the end, "Rhoad Island", so that's an easy one to find, everything else looks good at somewhat of a speed read ;-)

I was thinking of putting some HB1s in it for fun. If I do, I'll make sure to measure the SDs.

From what I've read, yes the JB is generally about 16k.

Thanks for the note on the typo - all fixed!

What's the radius on these fretboards? Gotta be at least 10. Feels more like 12 or flatter.

I have to say, I could feel that it was flat, but I had no idea it was 20° flat.
