Yup, it's review time again!

I've written up the two Guild X-500s currently in my possession. You can read it here: http://www.gad.net/Blog/2016/11/26/1980s-guild-x-500/

As always please feel free to PM me with any errors or typos. I posted this one from 30,000 feet with expensive wifi! :emmersed:

This one gets two pics!

Informative and entertaining as usual! Great stuff! Laughed out loud at your "double entendre" quip!

I am unable to read your review of these Guild guitars. I just cannot stop looking at the damn photos! :biggrin-new:

Good job! Well done!

Thanks all! I like guitars, I like camera, I like to write, and doing these keeps me busy during times when I should be working on something else. :emmersed:

Also, shooting pics of high-end Guilds is like taking pics of super-models. It's hard to take a bad pic!

I've got a coupe of "it's even better shooting Guilds because you get to fondle the guitars when it's over" but I decided not to include them because they'd be in bad taste and I don't want to seem like a pig.

Great review as usual. I'm a bit surprised at the weight of the guitars. My NS X175B only weighs a bit North of 7 lbs and my Gretsch 6116PTV which has big honkin' trestle braces just a bit more.

My X-175B was 6lbs 13oz, too. The X-500 is a much more robust instrument which is physically larger to boot, IIRC.

It would be interesting to compare the weights of X-500's from different eras. I've only handled two X-500's, one from the mid 70's and one from the 90's and as I recall, neither felt particularly heavy. Certainly wood, even the same species can differ in weight. I also wonder if there were differences in the number of ply's used in the back, sides and tops?
