Interesting that they didn't go high end on the instrument in the picture, or even name the model.

I was just recently looking at 1974 Guitar Player magazine from a trove - weird, I made my own time capsule, maybe I'll post about this - of magazines and songbooks I put away 20 years ago.

The Guild ads are quite stunning, some of the best.

Old pics, 1974 mag, and unphased S100. Very old TRC also, reverse proof?

Looks like Guild was frugal, not doing a lot of photography. I wish I'd been there, back in time, doing the photography, maybe keeping it a little fresher, but the CEO might have been opposed to spending more money for more up to date photographs. Basically all Guild booklets are a little out of date somehow, showing older D25 PG shapes when they were no longer employed. Didn't seem to phase anyone, probably just gave sales people more to talk about like "It's gonna look even better than in the picture", a sales plus.

Compare the "Folder" number on the very bottom line in the 1974 Guitar Player adverts to these adverts from 1973 Down Beat. Fascinating!

Good eye. Fascinating indeed. So they had evolved.

Maybe as a rainy day project - today - with light permitting, I'll post about my time capsule, taking plenty of Guild ad pics to keep it interesting.

I like Guild's art, it's very period and I have a soft spot for B&W images.
