Basically I have a ‘70 Starfire VI and I know I need two amps but I actually gonna have a 3 amp setup. I’m just curious if any vintage guild player knew son neat amp combos!
Ok, so my main amp is a divided by 13 ftr 37(it’s amazing!), and I wanna be able to play some more metallic music but change midway song to more of a Brian Jonestown massacre song. Ya of get what I’m getting to. Just diversity thanks guys/gals peace

I'm totally confused. To clarify:

You have a ‘70 Starfire VI. You use it on stage. You want radically different sounds from it and your solution is to change amps, perhaps mid-song. You own a FTR-37 and are looking for something, probably of similar quality, but different tonally and that provides that difference with your Starfire.

If I've got it, I have nothing to offer but look forward to hearing answers.

As someone who has spent time as an unpaid roadie for friends I would hope that you either pay your crew or would consider pedals as an alternative solution. Hauling multiple amps and then getting things connected and/or mic'd can require time and effort :)

I didn’t mention it’s a stereo output which makes a huge difference

I use pedals too. Chris Cornell ran 3 amps. An ftr37 and two savage more aggressive amp. I think I’ll probably end up just using two the FTR37 and maybe a Mesa. Basically I play a combo of metal and folk I call hardcore folk so I need to be able to drastically change tone mid song! Lol it’ll sound good!

Yeah I was sleepy and forgot! I used a stereo rig before I got the stereo guitar but used a switcher. Divided by 13 actually makes a pedal called the Switchazel I think and it’s made just for this application. Thanks for replying! I’m interested what people are gonna say too! Thanks again!

We’re not big enough yet to have a staff lol.. I have to set my shit up like a drummer! Lol the biggest thing running your rig like that is keep the patch cables and power cords attached so you don’t [••••] around for 30 mins at sound check! Yeah I’ve been an unpaid roadie/tech/merch man and it sucks but I’m also a graphic designer so I designed a couple tees and we all made some $ not a lot but enough to make it worth it! Unpaid roadies sounds like a good song maybe.. haha

Thank you. That clarifies a lot.
Hey also I run 11-56 strings and always try to get a deep tone mixed with a bright tone and individually too. If you’re a bass player I wouldn’t mind what you think about using a bass amp in the mix. I’ve seen people do it and it sounds good. Also Brent Hinds from mastodon uses a bass wah. My acoustic which I run thru the Divided by 13 which Chris Cornell did too and my acoustic is a nice deep Guild F-50 so I like dark tone with brightness in places is a decent description. Um imagine Tom Waits was the singer for Soundgarden but Neil young is also in the band! Haha and some Bob Dylan mixed with some He Is Legend(they’re kind of a local NC band but that’s who I work with doing graphic design). Thanks for your time and interest’ have a nice day.

You don’t need two have two amps - it’s just an option. The guitar will work just fine with a traditional signal chain.

With a traditional three amp setup I’d probably use this:

Stereo makes everything more complicated.
