Same as JD! Except he tuned his F-612 down an extra whole step and capoed up two frets!Yes.
BTW, the recording sounds great, as usual, Chris! Tallyho!

Charlie, you *know* it's the guitar, right! You purchase, repair, rebuild, etc the right Guild guitar and it makes any player and any song sound great......BTW, the recording sounds great...
Well, no. I know better, Chris! Fondest wishes. -- CCharlie, you *know* it's the guitar, right! You purchase, repair, rebuild, etc the right Guild guitar and it makes any player and any song sound great...
Try watching his finger picking hand . I know vids are so so but dang it looks as his knuckles are curled .Ray, it's awfully hard to see anything clearly with this recording (videotape, low rez).... I don't think JD did anything strange with his finger picks, but I don't know for certain.
Hi Christoper hope your well . I enjoyed our time together but not gotten a reply from you there after . I know what you told me so I’m more or less just poking the bear ! lolCharlie, you *know* it's the guitar, right! I recently customized a 1999 Guild JF65-12 (the artist formerly known as the F-412) for a customer. It came out so luscious that I re-recorded one of my own instrumentals on it as a testament to what a Guild 12 string has the potential to sound like...

It sounds great, doesn't it? It retains all the classic "shimmer" of the standard maple jumbo, but I was able to coax so much more bass response out of the new top. It rumbles!Holy cow, Chris. That thing sounds amazing.
Your playing is exceptionally good. Makes me feel better about selling you my F212, I know it's in good hands.
Nah finger picks not for me ! I tried contacting you long time back you went awall lolHi Ray! I loved our time together, and I look forward to doing it again! How are you fairing?
RE: John Denver... He preferred the "National" style fingerpick, the metal or plastic blades that curve up over the fingertip.
When he first starts that song (Bells of Rhymney) he is fingerpicking "Travis" style (only the fingers move, wrist is fixed). But as the song progresses you see him using something of a mixed "Clawhammer" ("banjo") style where he is using a lot of wrist and elbow, especially as the tempo increases.
I have lots of fingerpicks, all different makes and styles. Come on by and you can try 'em out for yourself. I used to perform Bells of Rhymney frequently (just to show off - LOL, just kidding) so we can even try the picks on the same song JD was playing!
