My guess is that the folder numbers are indicative of ad design and placement, 7751 being that specific ad for pickups, and 7732 being that specific one for strings. Letters indicate where the ad was run. It doesn't look like a code where "A" = Guitar Player, etc., but likely first placement, second placement, etc.

If you responded to the ad, and included the folder number, Guild could then track how effective various advertising vehicles were for specific products.

Stevie and The Smithereens never had a problem. ;)

Yes but if Hendrix played that piece of music written in the key of Eb with his guitar tuned down half a step to Eb he would be playing in D!
Historically, E flat has been the primary/preferred key for which to be recording in.
However, dropped D has its own quicksand'… I wonder which one of my Guild guitars is the best, D2 40 or 73-75 Madeira; just change the strings on the Made. Guess that answers my own question~!~
Peace out

No, those were not the ad numbers but the catalog and price list numbers! A number was for a specific year/time and the letters were running updates, sometimes even without changing the dates.

June 1969, November 1968, April 1970

Did Guild actually make any acrylic, see-through guitars like that? I assume these are just for pictures since I don't see any wiring or anything.

but @GAD needs to translate the URL.

My recollection is that there is no evidence that the clear bodies ever existed as a physical object and if they did they were never party of a working guitar.

This is interesting. Of all the guitars Guild could give away for a "Country Music" contest, why an S-300? Was it a silly choice by someone, or were they trying to make inroads into the country market with that guitar?

Just seems like an acoustic would be more obvious and more appropriate...
