The Jam, with Paul Weller as the lead singer & main songwriter, were huge in England and had a remarkable output over the space of their relatively short career. Weller was just 21 when their 4th album, Setting Sons came out. Really worth checking out of you are into 60s pop (Who, Kinks etc) mixed in with some punk style vigour and attitude.

Therein lies the problem. Take a listen to his first few solo albums. Some amazing work that is worth checking out as well!!

With the benefit of being in the UK I have seen Paul Weller numerous times. We are about the same age and grew up in the same area not far from London.
He still gigs a lot, and wlthough there was a period about 15 years ago when I felt he was just going through the motions, he now gives a stunning live performance.
He is one of those artists who follows his own path. He disbanded The Jam at the top of their fame and went on to a solo career, playing at first to small clubs an pubs.

As a general remark, please don't just post any videos here unless you post them together with the picture.
It's really supposed for what the thread title is: "Your favorite picture(s) of an artist playing a Guild?

I was about to post a video when I noticed this. I'll certainly abide by that recommendation, but just out of curiosity, what is the reasoning behind the general opposition to videos in this thread? It's probably something obvious that I'm not understanding, but to me it would make sense to include videos here too.

Anyway, fun thread!

I wasn't the one who started that thread, but me being German I try to stick to "rules" :anonymous: and I thought based on the pretty clear thread title it is a fun "picture" thread to show new members how many famous artists use and used Guild guitars.
And browsing through this thread is much more fun to watch just pictures! Posting links under pictures is fine I thought as it is up to you if you want more details about that picture and maybe want to visit a video where this picture is from. Also I appreciated it if the poster said which artist is on the picture and which Guild model it is. Not everybody knows every artist in the world.
But posting just video links without a picture is a hassle I thought (that's only my personal opinion) as one needs to make an effort to click it and look what the poster thought is cool. We have other areas here in the forum where videos can be posted as such, but maybe one wants to start "Your favorite video(s) of an artist playing a Guild" thread? That could be cool! Especially if the video would be embedded in the video button, so you see the starting page of it already. Just a proposal.

Gotcha. I'll embrace the Teutonic spirit of this thread and keep things tidy. Now if I could only apply that same sense of order to my desk, my life would be greatly improved!

Sorry, not a "playing" picture but a great "kid in the candy store" picture of the late Richie Havens when visiting the Guild factory in 2010.

Saw this pic on a nice thread over at LTG about bands/people before they were really famous:

Leslie West (later of Mountain), about 1967, when he was with the Vagrants:

With Starfire V or VI maybe?

And this one, The Grateful Dead, then known as the Warlocks, 1965:
