It took more months than expected to repair the cosmetic gouges on the top edges - the luthier was moving everything into a larger space - so he didn't even charge me for the repair! The gouges are still slightly visible - the luthier didn't get them to disappear altogether - but they are definitely sealed up and the finish is totally smooth. He also installed a K&K for 12-string for a very reasonable charge.
The setup guy did a good job - cut a new higher saddle. No more bass string buzz!
Man, the tone coming from this guitar is just awesome. AWESOME! More expensive guitars really do have significantly better tone. Or at least this one does. I'm so glad I took a chance on this guitar that was advertised as "for parts or not working." Ha! This baby's working now!
