Except for the cheesy looking peghead logo, I think I'd like this little couch guitar. I'm considering a low priced used one. The label on these says 'designed in Ca', but I'm wondering if these are actually built here.

If anyone knows, I'd appreciate hearing about it, as well as opinion if anyone has played one. The sample clip on Guild's site sounds warm and woody.

Thanks.

Nope.
They're in the "Westerly Collection", those're all MIC.
But Guild said they were "inspired" by Ren Ferguson's Orpheums, to which they bear some similarity in appearance.

What a coincidence. I was just in Twin Town guitar here in Mpls this morning and played one of these. I thought it was very well made, felt good and played nice, but sounded a little dead. Your used example at $350 with free shipping looks like a nice price; Twin Town had the new one on the wall for $499.

I think that script logo is loosely based on one that Guild actually used for a brief time in the late 50s.

Yeah...a little too loosely based for me. The old original script was OK by me. New in store might have been a dead string thing.

Yeah, if this is what you're looking for I wouldn't discourage you from jumping on that used eBay price!

I actually like it very much and as Sal already said it was used in the past in various ways like on this late 50ies M-20:

And all of Ren's famous Orpheum models used it:

...but the 50's M20 logo isn't the same as the newer version. If the cursive had been accurately copied it wouldn't bother me.

Right, I got that.
Actually one can see the "Oxnard/CMG" style font influence in the new one on the home page of the website, the "Made to be Played" logo right next to the" traditional logo"..

Interesting, thanks. I lose track of the specs, details and historical changes that, thankfully, others here and in other forums have a memory for.
