Congrats, GAD. How's it sound? Can you exactly cop those early Brian May licks?

Every time I look at the Deacy schematic I think it might be possible (I didn't say easy) to put the basic circuit into a pedal.

You're not the first to think that!

And there have been a few retail items along the Deacy vein:

The problem I see with the Deacy being housed in a pedal is that a fair bit of the magic may come from the little speaker cabinet with its two speakers and crossover. Of course, if you're playing live you pretty much just need to get within the ballpark of the right tone for the audience to think "OMG Queen!" so long as you can play reasonably closely to the original.

I think it sounds pretty great. I'm going to use it for a sound sample or two on the BHM1 review and I may even write up a review of it on its own.

That's one of the things I hear a lot. Not as often as "clean up your mess" but still pretty often.

Right. I mean, it wouldn't need to sound exactly like the Deacy. I'm not even sure what that would mean anyway unless you happen to be Brian May. But it might be possible for the rest of us to fake it, or at least make it easier to fake it.

Crazy as it seems, it might be easier to put the essence of a Deacy into a stomp box than the essence of an AC30. But don't pay too much attention to me; my talk is bigger than my bite.
