Note his technique, capo on the 5th fret but not on the 6th string. Make sure you get to the 28th second mark. Very cool.

Saw him play at the Oldtown School of Folk Music in Chicago. Good show.

One thing about partial capos is that you can play "behind" them. In fact some chords require it. Makes it kind of difficult for those with clunky fingers such as mine, but James has large hands. He is fairly innovative with his instruments, in my favorite YouTube version of "Choctaw Bingo" he is playing a 12 string strung with just the normal 6.
