You think we will ever see a Newark Street S-300?

There was much speculation when the NS line came out concerning what the effect would be on the used vintage/market. The speculation was influenced by whether "inspired by" instead of "reissue" made a difference to the market, or not. You seem to be saying that vintage S-100 prices did rise. I would say that vintage Starfire I bass prices rose slightly but vintage M-85 bass prices were already so high they had nowhere to go and so didn't. So, a decade later, is it generally true that the prices of vintage Guilds with a NS sibling rose more than the general market or only true for specific models or are Guilds just riding a general rise in vintage prices?

I’m not an expert on the market by no means. I just seem to remember 10 years ago seeing a few listed at a grand or so.

IMO opinion as someone who watches closely, the Newark St guitars had no effect on the price of Vintage Guilds.

The overall uptick in the vintage market as a whole, however, has.

I wouldn't anticipate a NS S-300 series of guitars would be a disappointment. Thry have done a great job so far on the NS models and I like the variants they have been issuing.
You might see Franz pups on that body shape or how about a Guildsby on a NS S70? (I had to customize my own!)

And the Indonesian model price points are fantastic for the guitar you get.

There are only so many commercially viable older models Cordoba can release of older Guilds. They have to be able to sell them in large enough quantities to make money, and not just to people on this forum who would obviously be buyers, the low-hanging fruit, you might say.

The S series guitars are better left alone, IMO. I'd rather see Cordoba reissue some of the pointy guitars, like the X-79, etc. I would definitely consider an X-79 if they reissued it. I also think the carved walnut top guitars would be a cool reissue.

How do you separate the two? For example, the price of the X-160 Rockabilly has gone up quite a bit, but is it due to the X-175 Special's introduction, due to the rising tide of the vintage market "floating all boats" or a combination of the two?

I can't with any real authority, but I expected the US-made Guild electrics to skyrocket when the Newark St. Guilds came out and I didn't see that happen. Hell, I've managed to score two US-made Starfires for cheep because the sellers thought they were used Newark St. guitars and Guild has so muddied the waters with the way they name things that only someone who watches them constantly would know the difference.

I also expected to see modern parts being sold as vintage, and while I have seen that happen, it's really only been knobs on Ebay and that Bonfire guy.

The X160R has always been higher on the used market from what I've seen, and I think the majority of the people who look at the X175s don't even know that the X160R exists.
