+1 on the Ovation comments. We had one hanging up on a record store I worked at - it hung unsold for a few years - and we used to play it once in a while. I could not get it to stay still!

Something I’ve heard from a couple different sources, one of them a YouTuber who is probably partially responsible for Guild prices going up. Thanks for nothing bud…

What does that mean exactly that you have to fight a Guild a little to play it? Sounds like less than ideal setups to me but is there something to this?
My first one was a challenge because the action at the twelfth fret was pretty high. Loved it though, because cowboy chords sounded great on it.

The one I have now — the same model — has low action, good intonation, and a cozy neck profile. Friends love playing it because it's so comfortable and easy on the fingers.

The few others I've played have also been fight-free, so my admittedly narrow sample seems to belie the fight notion.

My new D20 plays like a dream. This from a guy who has owned many dozen of all makes, all price points. I love it so much I just ordered a D40 to keep it company.

The only guitars I ever had to "fight with" to play were a cheap acoustic that I bought from a friend when I was about twelve, and a similarly cheap electric that I got when I was about fifteen. In both cases, the action was poor and the necks so thick that playing the instrument was very difficult.
My one and only Guild, a GAD jf-30 is no more difficult to play than my Martin, Gibson or Washburn acoustics.
