Went to the beach Wednesday because I wanted to and because I could.
And I met this lady working hard on her hole digging assignment, to meet her offsprings deadline!

Great shots, Pascal.
Now, if you just wait right there to see the young ones making a run for the surf.....

Pack a lunch, or maybe a bunch of lunches!

Joe

*Looks like a leatherback from here.

Believe me Joe, the thought immediately crossed my mind... even thought about asking her if she had any idea on the ETA, but she was so busy, I let her focus on the task at hand.
Hiding a cam in a weather proof casing would be the way to go.... But you better have some serious memory card!

That's some cool shots Pascal. When I was in Malaysia there was a beach up the coast from where we lived, it was right next to (throwback to the 70's if you remember) a "Club Med", still popular with European folks over there. Anyway, we'd go to this beach that had the most breathtaking shoreline and it was a protected area, though you could still swim there. No one did swim there though as it was made clear that the turtles were the tiger shark's favorite food......we even saw a couple (from the beach  ).

Thanks for the pictures.

Cool memories I'm sure.... Yep the club med is one of the few succesful French Corporations, very popular in Europe, which is why Americans (males mostly) love browsing them: No tops necessary for ladies  (But I'm not saying that's why you went... )
I've seen a few turtles since I live in an area where they come nesting, but every time I see one I'm as impressed as the first time by the size of those things.... This particular one had to be at least 5 feet long (just the shell)!

Seems like there may have been some topless ladies there :? :? :? , to tell you the truth, I was so captivated by the turtle roost, I hadn't noticed.

Here's the one that was up the beach from us.....

Great pix. She's old, that's why she's so big......probably 100 years plus she's been coming to that beach. Leatherbacks are the oldest surviving reptilian species. Sadly only three to five percent of the clutch will survive beyond the first month at sea.
