First I would like to introduce myself I am new to this forum. My name is Randy. Great to be aboard.

I presently own 2 Guilds. A 1961 A500 and a 1980 X175 Manhattan. I just recently aquired the X175. It's in absolute mint condition The very first thing I did was remove the strings and restrung with D'Addario .013-.056 Flat Wounds. I replaced them one at a time. I didn't even try the original strings. I noticed quite a bit of buzz all the way up the neck on D. Got a closer look and found the bridge base out 180 degrees. The bridge was tilted. Still had the buzz. I checked the relief and the bridge height. Both were off. But. still the problem. I took it to the local guitar shop (mind you, this guy builds his own custom guitars). He told me that there was a bit of bowing at the base of the neck due to humidity/moisture and wait a few days and check again. I accepted this theory but mentioned to him the string goies out of tune as you go up the neck. Could it be a bad string. (these are new strings). He said no, I'd see a problem with the winding. Well, I installed a new string. The buzz is gone. Strange a new string would be bad.

I still have the problem with the D String. I tune them perfect open and check them at 12. They are all perfect except for D. It's quite a bit sharp. Any Ideas? I was thinking of going to a Tunamatic bridge.

Any help on this would be great. Sorry for the long post

Randy
